What Is Myotherapy?

Myotherapy is a combination of soft tissue techniques to help eliminate pain and injury in the body. Myotherapists assess, treat and manage musculoskeletal conditions that cause muscular dysfunction resulting in mobility and movement issues.

Trigger points in muscles can cause deep pain, aches, tenderness and  referred pain. If a trigger point is active, it can result in loss of flexibility and movement.  Using palpation skills, Myotherapists can identify trigger points and deactivate them using soft tissue techniques.

Using a variety of treatment techniques, Myotherapists work to restore and maintain the normal integrity of your soft tissue structures. Myotherapy treatment is highly effective for preventing, correcting and rehabilitating injuries.

What Happens during a Massage therapy or Myotherapy treatment?

On your first visit to Tension Release, the Massage Therapist or Myotherapist will talk to you about your medical history, health conditions and your reason for needing a treatment.

Your treatment takes place on a comfortable, heated, fully adjustable massage table in a quiet relaxing room. Any parts of the body not being treated will be covered with towels.

If you haven't had a professional massage or myotherapy treatment before, it's normal to feel a little apprehensive. It's important to immediately let your therapist know if you experience any pain or discomfort as they can adjust the treatment.

Why Is It Important to go to an accredited Massage Therapist or Myotherapist?

Choosing to be treated by an unqualified massage therapist means you run the risk of making an existing injury or physical condition worse.
